Skipper Appreciation Brunch + Helms Bridging Day

Through their assistance with the CANSail classes and general mentoring as part of social sailing nights, TISC skippers put in a lot of work and time into making sure novices have a great learning experience! This year, we're combining the traditional 'thank you' brunch with helms bridging.

Thank-You Brunch

To show our appreciation, please join your fellow TISCers for our annual potluck 'Thank You' Brunch. As is tradition, the CANSail class participants will run the show, but this is also a great chance for novices, helms, and senior helms to say thank you for a great summer!

Helms Bridging

After we've fed the skippers, we'll put them to work yet again by asking them to test this year's crop of helms candidates. We'll focus on the three on-water skills that are not covered by CANSail (heave-to, man-overboard, and close quarter sailing), and will try and sign you off on additional items if time allows.

If you're a novice who'd like to be tested, please make sure you meet the following prerequisites:

• Participate in the brunch preparation
• Have already checked off the first four items of Section A on the helms testing sheet (leaves and returns to dock; knows points of sail; tacks, gybes and beats to windward; maneuvers boat out of irons)
