Learn to Sail, race, or socialize - there's no better way to spend your summer than with TISC! As a TISC Sailing Member, you'll have access to our fleet of Albacores, Lasers and Hobies and our spectacularly located clubhouse on the Toronto Island. To determine what makes sense for you, view the different types of membership available.
Social SailingSocial sailing takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and runs from Victoria day in May until the week of Labour day in September. Novice sailors are assigned a night, and paired with an experienced sailor on that night, for the duration of the season. This enables members to learn skills at their own pace over the course of the summer. You will have the opportunity to improve your skills and achieve Helms, Senior Helms or Skipper status throughout the season. After social sailing, we fire up the BBQs and socialize over a potluck dinner. Bring something to BBQ for yourself, and something to share! | Fast Track for Experienced SailorsNew to TISC but already an experienced dinghy sailor? If you prefer to skip our Learn to Sail course, we offer the option to take our Experienced Sailor Test. Tests are conducted in our Albacore dinghies. Some of the drills you will be asked to demonstrate are the following:
If you haven't sailed for many years, have sailed but not in a dinghy, or you're due for a refresher in any of the above skills, we strongly recommend that you take a CANSail course. Think you'd like to jump straight to the test? Contact Education at education@torontosailing.com to arrange an Experienced Sailor Test. |
