SAFETY & ORIENTATION SESSION 4
In order to ensure a safe and fun sailing season, all TISC Sailing members (who have not previously attended a Water Safety Night) must attend an SOS (Safety & Orientation Session).
If you are unable to attend one of the sessions, you must contact a member of the club who has the status of Helms or above to go over safety procedures before you are allowed to sail. We strongly encourage you to attend an SOS session as it covers key safety concepts comprehensively and gives you a chance to meet fellow new members.
The session will include a tour of the facilities to familiarize yourself with TISC equipment and routines including some of the COVID-19 Protocols we have implemented. Volunteers will be happy to show you around and answer all of your questions.
Sign up today!
(If you have already attended a session, you don't need to attend another one)
GETTING TO TISC:
Here's where we are located: https://goo.gl/maps/gvFLpZRnmEMJtSNx7
Since TISC is located on the Toronto Islands we recommend that you take the Centre Island Ferry and walk / bike to the TISC Clubhouse. It's about a 10 minute walk to TISC from the Centre Island Ferry Dock. Please give yourself enough time to arrive at the clubhouse on time. It is also recommended that you buy your ferry tickets online as the lines at the terminal could be long. Here's a link to the Centre Island Ferry Schedule: https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/parks-gardens-beaches/toronto-island-park/all-ferry-schedules/
The other option would be take the Toronto Island Marina Tender (private ferry) which is a much shorter walk. TISC leases our property from the Marina which allows members access to their tender. You must purchase tickets for the Toronto Island Marina Tender but unfortunately they can only be purchased at Marina office located where the tender docks on the island. As a member of TISC, you are allowed to purchase tickets. They sell an 8 pack of tickets for $28. Each ticket allows one person a one way trip either to or from the Toronto Island Marina. Fore general public one way trips cost $8 on weekdays and $10 on weekends.
If you are taking the Toronto Island Marina tender (private ferry) to get to TISC, please arrive no later than 5:45 PM and check in with the TISC representative at the dock who will issue you a ticket – which you will need to reimburse – and accompany you to the club. The tender departs the dock at 6:00 PM sharp and does not wait. The next boat departs an hour later.
All members are required to sign the Toronto Island Marina COVID-19 Waiver upon arrival. There are copies in the Marina office and a TISC member will guide you through the process. Be aware that face coverings are mandatory on all modes of transportation to the island.
The tender dock is next to the Sobey's at Queens Quay Terminal and shares a dock with water taxis so make sure you look for the TISC representative at the dock. Here is a link to the location on Google Maps. Please disregard the name Toronto Harbour Water Taxi on the link: https://goo.gl/maps/c83ZSRTSkKsB1Evc6
