What Is a Regatta?
A regatta is a full day—or sometimes an entire weekend—of sailboat racing, made up of multiple races held back-to-back. These events are an exciting way for sailors to test their skills, meet fellow racers, and enjoy some spirited competition on the water.
In the Toronto area, regattas are hosted by local community sailing clubs including TISC, Mooredale, St. Jamestown (J-Town), Westwood, and the Outer Harbour Centreboard Club (OHCC). These events bring together Albacore sailors from across the city to compete in a friendly and supportive racing environment.
Beyond the local scene, members of the Canadian Albacore Association (CAA) also participate in major regattas throughout the season—including the Ontario Championships, Canadian Championships, U.S. Nationals, and International Championships.
Please note: To skipper in a regatta with the TISC fleet, you must hold Racing Skipper status. However, sailors of all levels are welcome to participate as crew.

August 29-31 - Canadian Championships, RCYC

Regatta Entry Fees: Unlike our Friday Night Races and Harbour Master Series, which are included in community club memberships, regattas require a separate entry fee (typically $35–$100 per boat). This helps cover costs such as:
- Race management
- Lunches & dinners
- Trophies & prizes
- Social events and parties
